DoAll Sawing Products donated two bandsaws to Workshops for Warriors (WFW). WFW provides technical and vocational training for active duty and armed service veterans in manufacturing and fabrication disciplines. “I was honored to meet the people at WFW who have dedicated their careers to helping the men and women in the armed services, who keep our country secure,” said Kurt Plechaty, president of DoAll. “We were impressed with the depth and breadth of knowledge these students are getting with its curriculum.”
Doall offers optimization guides
DoAll Sawing Products offers free posters to be placed near bandsaws. The posters offer tips on how to identify and then optimize saw performance. Furthermore, the company has created a brochure that assists saw operators in reading chips. By evaluating chips, operators can make adjustments to improve the efficiency and operation of the saw and the bandsaw blade. The brochure features examples of chip forms and shapes and offers suggestions on speed and feed rates to achieve the ideal chip form and shape.
Kaast announces staff additions
Kaast Machine Tools Inc. named additions to its growing staff. Luis Chiarelli (top) was named new sales technician. Chiarelli worked at a national logistics brokerage firm before joining the Kaast. Bruce DeFuria (middle) is the new service technician, bringing 40 years of hands-on machine repair and maintenance experience to the service department. The new office assistant, Jamie Petragnani (bottom) has a background in writing, communications and technical support. Petragnani will work to expand marketing materials and support the sales team.
Starrett to display latest blades at eastec
The L.S. Starrett Co. will show its latest bandsaw blade solutions at the Eastec show in Booth No. 5045. Blade solutions include Versatix MP bi-metal bandsaw blades, which feature tripletempered, high-speed M-42 cobalt steel teeth with an alloy steel backing strip. The blade’s patented tooth design dissipates stress during cutting for less tooth breakage and longer blade life. The blades include Starrett’s bi-metal unique technology that joins two strips of high-speed steel wires to the backing steel using solid-state diffusion bonding to create a stronger, longer lasting blade.

Amada marvel announces retirement
Amada Marvel Inc. congratulated Steven Brown on his recent retirement. Brown represented the company for six and a half years with the last three and a half years working as a service support representative, providing an initial level of support for troubleshooting customer issues. “I enjoyed the challenges associated with learning the variety of Amada Marvel products, along with assisting our customers in finding the right parts needed to repair their saws,” he said.
